Wigan is now emerging as a property hotspot. House prices in the borough rocketed by 11.1pc last year, according to the UK House Price Index.The average property price in Wigan was £151,672 in November, up from £136,493 a year earlier.According to data from the Land Registry, house prices in all ten Greater Manchester boroughs went up last year - in spite of the challenges created by the pandemic.But nowhere in the region did they spike as much as in Wigan.According to the property website Rightmove, the majority of homes sold in the borough last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £150,570.Terraced properties, meanwhile, sold for an average of £112,333, with detached properties fetching £266,375.Nadine.
