Yvonne Telford, the designer behind Kemi Telford – whose joyful print dresses and skirts look like summer in sartorial form – has a similar story. ‘Until I read about it, I didn’t know people were wearing tracksuits in lockdown because my orders were telling such a different story,’ says Yvonne, who models all the collections for her brand. ‘And interestingly, while my sweatshirts weren’t selling all that well, my dresses were flying off the shelves.’Surprising, right?

Having watched parts of the British high street implode over the last year, you’d be forgiven for thinking the nation had chosen to hunker down at home in ratty old sweatshirts and grey leggings.
