Manchester council is making changes to how bins are collected during the coronavirus pandemic, due to decreased levels of staffing.

Garden and food recycling bins were being collected every two weeks, but will now not be collected until further notice. This is to make sure that grey rubbish bins can be collected as normal.

New requests for green bins, caddies and caddy liners have also been paused. The council said garden waste, vegetable peelings, fruit and coffee granules can be composted at home.

Residents who do not have a compost bin should place their food waste in the grey rubbish bin instead. Residents who contract the virus, or have symptoms, are asked to put personal waste such as tissues and disposable cleaning cloths in a
