Dramatic pictures show how an inferno ripped through a caravan park in California as firefighters battle over 30 fires that have broken out across the state.
Terrifying wildfires caused by lightning strikes rolled across Napa Valley and Sonoma County yesterday as temperatures topped 46C (115F) in a record-breaking heatwave.
Abnormally high temperatures have strained the state's power grid and led to rolling blackouts. The surge in lightning strikes - the most widespread burst of such storms in California since 2008 - has come with very little rain.
Dozens of homes and caravans in the Spanish Flat area of Napa were destroyed as the so-called LNU Lightning Complex Fire burned out of control.
