Anne Hegerty teases 'a few people' could replace Bradley Walsh if he left The Chase
Bradley Walsh, 62, has presented The Chase since it began in 2009, with Anne Hegerty, 64, joining the show as The Governess in its second series. The Governess was asked by Express.co.uk if she could see anyone replacing Bradley on the show, admitting "she can think of a few" in the revealing interview.Anne works on The Chase alongside fellow chasers Darragh Ennis, Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan.Bradley has presented the show since it started and has become an integral part of the famous ITV quiz show.Express.co.uk asked Anne if she could imagine Bradley ever leaving the show, with The Governess opening up about the possibility. She said: "People keep trying to have this conversation with me and I'm just like 'Can't hear you!'"I can't imagine the idea of Bradley leaving us and having to find someone else."I suppose I could think of a couple of names that might but Bradley is just an integral part of the whole show and his rapport with the contestants and with us."It's just I can't imagine him being replaced!"He once said to me 'The Chase is my pension' and I really do hope that he regards it that way and he has no plans to go anywhere."The Chase sees contestants go against Britain's biggest brains in a bid to take home the prize money, however, things on the show do not always go to plan.As reported by The Mirror, some things appear to go incredibly wrong on the show, as Bradley doesn't actually get to see the questions any sooner than the contestants. This means they are unrehearsed, making room for the mishaps with the questions Bradley has on the show.Bradley previously told the Radio Times: "If there is a slight misread, I am stopped immediately - bang - by the lawyers.

Anne Hegerty defends Jenny Ryan as she's branded 'disgusting' by The Chase viewer
Anne Hegerty, 64, who is best known by her Chaser name The Governess, defended Jenny Ryan, 40, after she tweeted to her 109,400 followers, asking for them to help her decipher what a disgruntled Twitter user was referring to in a nasty tweet. The tweet from Jenny read: “Can anyone enlighten me as to what this person is referring to?”After an unnamed user, which Jenny purposefully left out of the cropped image, had written to her: “I thought you were disgusting in Beat the Chasers with your attitude towards your fellow chasers.“It was embarrassing on The Chase watching you blow your own trumpet, but seeing the episode with Margot and Ria again demonstrated what an appalling person you are.!With her characteristic wit, Anne was one of the first to reply to Jenny’s plea for help concerning the less than complimentary tweet. She joked: “I believe they are trying to say, 'Nurse! I'm out of bed again!'”Gaining 350 likes for her remark, which was even more likes than Jenny’s original tweet, others commented with numerous laughing emoji’s.One of those who liked Anne’s reply was former Countdown star Carol Vorderman, who has her own wicked sense of humour. In line with Anne’s reply, others defended Jenny, whose Chaser nickname is The Vixen. One user under the name Hazel commented: “I don't know what they're on about.“I've never met you, but you were the chaser when my Mam was on and she said you were fab.” (sic)And another added: “Jenny don’t listen to them I don’t care what anyone else says but u are an amazing person who is so nice and respectful.U are the vixen. U don’t have a attitude at all.

Anne Hegerty ‘p***ed off’ at idea she'll be replaced by new 'Love Island'-style Chaser
“They have tried out a few 20-year-olds for The Chase as quizzers.“I would be more than p***ed off if I was replaced, as she would not be as good as me.“Nobody is about to replace me.”In his Oxford Union address, Mark said the producers were looking for someone who can “play like Anne or Jenny (Ryan) and looks like she can be on Love Island”.The popular ITV quiz show is in the middle of its 15th season, and all the current Chasers have tons of experience to show for themselves. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk from earlier this month, Anne further expressed how unhappy she would be about the decision to introduce new blood. The star previously revealed that the more Chasers there are, the less money they all get paid. She explained: “If they introduce one, I mean, we won’t get told.“It will kind of be sprung on us. I guess we’ll just have to put up with it.”Based on the pattern of recruitment over the last few years, it seems unlikely there will be another Chaser for some time. After the first series of The Chase, Anne joined Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace in 2010.Paul Sinha was added the following year, after which changes to the panel occurred much more slowly. In 2015, Jenny Ryan became the fifth Chaser on the panel, while the most recent addition, Darragh Ennis, was introduced in 2020.This comes as Anne has a new sitcom in the works called Gammon, and is likely to branch her career away slightly from ITV.“The sitcom hasn’t actually been greenlit yet,” she told Express.co.uk.“We are hoping for someone to pick it up.
