Pulp paid tribute to late bassist Steve Mackey at their Finsbury Park gig last night (July 1).Frontman Jarvis Cocker paused to speak about Mackey before the band played ‘Something Changed’.“We’re trying to do something that is a tribute to Steve Mackey’s memory,” Cocker began.  “I tend to talk about him before this song, because this song’s called ‘Something Changed’. It’s about how somebody can enter your life and really change it all.

Pulp drummer Nick Banks has announced details of his new memoir, So It Started There: From Punk To Pulp.The news comes ahead of the returning Britpop heroes’ huge London gig this weekend, playing Finsbury Park for the first time in 25 years.Now, drummer Banks – who joined the band in 1986 and played on all of their albums since 1992’s ‘Separations’ – will tell the world the story of his life and career in his new book, arriving on September 28.“Nick Banks is the time-keeper of Pulp, and within these covers are the early times, the good times, the not-so-good times and the WTF time,” said Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker. “Do You Remember the First Time? Pulp have announced the door times, curfew and stage times for their upcoming show at London’s Finsbury Park this weekend (Saturday July 1). Pulp have launched their own brand of teabags, and announced that singles from their Island era will be arriving on streaming services.The band teased both new updates on social media – the first of which was their own signature brand of tea.Made in collaboration with Dragonfly Tea, frontman Jarvis Cocker took to Instagram last week to unveil the band’s own blend of Black Tea, which comes equipped with snippets of their lyrics.“Monday mornings can be hard. Glastonbury fans are expecting the festival to reveal the identity of the mystery secret band The Churnups shortly.It’s just one week until Glasto kicks off, with Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John headlining the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Pilton from June 21 to June 25. When the full line-up with stage times were revealed last month, much speculation arose around an unknown band called The Churnups appearing on the bill at 6.15pm on the Friday of the festival, playing on the Pyramid Stage before Royal Blood.The most common theories were that it would be Foo Fighters, or returning Britpop veterans Pulp.

Glastonbury 2023 ticketholders are speculating online over a prominent mystery slot on the Pyramid Stage.Today (May 30) the full line-up and stage times were revealed for this year’s festival, which is due to take place at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset between June 21-25. Joining the bill were the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, The Hives and Ben Howard.But the main talking point surrounding the extensive schedule is a slot occupied by an unknown act, The Churnups, on the opening day of music (June 23).They are billed to perform on the Pyramid Stage for an hour and a quarter (6:15pm-7:30pm BST) ahead of Royal Blood (8:15 pm-9:15pm BST) and headliners Arctic Monkeys (10:15pm-11:45pm BST).Initially, many fans on Twitter and beyond claimed that the pseudonym belongs to Pulp – who recently began their 2023 reunion tour. Pulp bass player Steve Mackey has died, the band have confirmed.In a post online, frontman Jarvis Cocker confirmed that the 56 year-old passed away this morning (March 2).He wrote: “Our beloved friend & bass player Steve Mackey passed away this morning. Our thoughts are with his family & loved ones. This photo of Steve dates from when Pulp were on tour in South America in 2012.“We had a day off & Steve suggested we go climbing in the Andes.

Pulp drummer Nick Banks has responded after a music photographer on social media shared a copy of the original advertisement Pulp shared in a local Sheffield newspaper for a drummer.The advertisement, which appeared in the Sheffield Star in the 1980s was shared by a Kevin Wells today (October 8) who asked Banks directly if it was this advertisement that he replied to and subsequently led him to join the hit Britpop band.The ad, which featured in the paper’s ‘wanted’ section read: “Pulp are looking for a drummer. If you find one, please send him to 31, Flockton Court, Rockingham Street off West Street, Sheffield.

Jarvis Cocker‘s band JARV IS… have announced a vinyl edition of their This Is Going Hurt original soundtrack.The group wrote and performed both the score and a collection of original songs for the medical comedy-drama, which aired earlier this year on BBC One. JARV IS… later released the soundtrack on digital streaming services.Today (September 29), JARV IS… have confirmed that the ‘This Is Going To Hurt’ album will arrive on vinyl on October 21.

Jarvis Cocker has confirmed that Pulp will return for reunion shows next year.The Pulp singer and solo artist told fans at a Guardian-hosted talk and Q&A for his new memoir Good Pop, Bad Pop that the band will regroup for 2023.It follows a 15-second clip shared by Cocker on Instagram last week in which the words “What exactly do you do for an encore?” appeared on screen. The line is from the title track of Pulp’s 1998 album ‘This Is Hardcore’, which hits its 25th anniversary milestone next year.The move prompted fans to speculate that a reunion was on the cards.
