Oasis, The Stone Roses and more, has been rediscovered.The stage is located in a terraced house in Hull, and has previously hosted performances from artists who would go on to become some of the biggest names in music.It was found as the owners booked a carpet refit, and the original stage was uncovered. It dates back to the ‘50s, and was lost when the club remodelled and extended the venue in 1995.Oasis, Radiohead, Pulp, The Housemartins and The Stone Roses all played on the stage before going on to find global fame, and their sets date back to a time when the venue was home to a social club.Speaking to BBC News, general manager Paul Sarel said it was a “lovely surprise” to find the stage during the carpet refit, and was reminded of how “some of the most famous bands in the world all squeezed onto this tiny space”.“When we posted on social media, we had so many people who said they remembered playing on that stage or seeing some of the most famous bands play on that small area,” he told the outlet.“That carpet’s seen some history…It had lots of holes in it.

Pulp‘s Jarvis Cocker has opened up about the creation of their song ‘Mile End’ for Danny Boyle‘s film Trainspotting.The iconic frontman was the latest guest of Criterion‘s Closet Picks series on YouTube. The series sees select artists visit the American home-video distribution company’s DVD closet and allows them to choose and explain their favourite films from the Criterion collection.While picking his favourite films, Cocker mentioned Trainspotting, the 1996 classic which follows the lives of a group of heroin addicts and their friends living in Leith, Edinburgh.

Pulp guitarist Mark Webber has spoken to NME about his new book I’m With Pulp – Are You? – as well as what the future may hold for the band.Published back in September, the new book gathers Webber’s extensive collection of ephemera and objects. It was accumulated over 40 years with the band and presented as a visual history of Pulp as told through photos, flyers, record covers, setlists, badges, posters, press clippings, merchandise and more.It comes with a foreword from frontman Jarvis Cocker, who describes Webber as a “hoarder” as well as the band’s “first fan” as well their “first tour manager” before he joined as a member in 1995.“I don’t think I can claim to the first fan, but definitely one of the few in that period of the mid-to-late ‘80s,” Webber told NME.

Pulp have announced their first UK show of 2025 with a huge homecoming headline slot at Tramlines Festival.The festival will return to Hillsborough Park, Sheffield, from July 25-27. Pulp will headline the Friday night of Tramlines in what will be only the fourth show they have played in their hometown since 2000.They have also curated the line-up for the main stage that day, choosing Spiritualized, Baxter Dury and Oracle Sisters to join them.

Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales have teamed up for a performance of Tina Turner‘s ‘Private Dancer’ at the Royal Albert Hall.Last night (October 28), Gonzales took over the famed London venue and performed tracks from his recent album ‘GONZO’ which was released last month. For the eighth song of the night, the Pulp frontman – who had been previously announced as a special guest of the night – joined the Canadian musician for a rendition of Turner’s 1984 song.The duo’s rendition of ‘Private Dancer’ was slower than the original track with Gonzales at the grand piano and Cocker singing the lyrics while remaining straightfaced, turning the upbeat track into a more stripped-back, dramatic tune.Cocker returned later in the show for a performance of ‘Tearjerker’ from the duo’s collaborative album ‘Room 29‘.

Pulp are “back in the studio” after the band’s frontman Jarvis Cocker was spotted in Walthamstow.Earlier today, Stella Creasy – the Walthamstow Labour and Coop MP – took her social media accounts to share a photo of Cocker that was lifted from the Walthamstow Residents News.The image saw the singer in the London Borough wearing a bucket hat and carrying an orange Rough Trade tote bag while waving at the camera. Those who took the photo, reportedly claimed that the frontman revealed that the band were “back in the studio”.“Look who was in the ‘Stow yesterday… he said that they were back in the studio!” read the caption of the photo.

During the set, Charli’s remix of her ‘Brat‘ track ‘Girl, So Confusing’ featuring Lorde was played.Charli commented on a TikTok of the song being spun by Cocker to which she commented: “Omg I’m dead.” Fans took to the comment section to express their excitement.
