Filthy pizza takeaway riddled with mould given worst possible hygiene score
takeaway has been given the worst possible hygiene score after inspectors found dirt and mould on both the floors and food inside the premises.Pizza Palace & Grill in Blackpool, Lancashire, failed on 10 separate issues following a visit from the Food Hygiene inspector.The inspection found food products such as cheese and ham were found to be growing mould in the pizza preparation unit, Lancs Live reports.Photographs released from the inspection on the on Lytham Road takeaway show dirt in the food preparation area and disgusting floors covered in food waste.The report highlighted a failure to ensure the premises were kept clean; failure to ensure that washbasins for cleaning hands had hot running water; and failure to ensure all fittings and equipment that comes into contact with food were effectively cleaned.It also listed dirt found on the floor throughout; on lower shelving units, cleaning chemical bottles, skirting boards, at the base of the kettle, outside of the pizza oven, on the outside of the glass front fridge, on various plugs and plug sockets and to the base of the chiller display unit.They also reported mould, dirt and ice build-up, as well as food debris, to the inside of the pizza preparation chiller.Chopping boards, which had not been removed from their wrapper, and knives on the walls also had dirt on them.A photographed delivery bag was also reported for being both dirty and torn.Pizza Palace & Grill was inspected in November last year and requested to cease trading immediately.
