Scottish Fire and Rescue and Kirkcudbright Coastal Rescue then raced to the scene to attempt a rescue. Thankfully, the sheep known as Larry, was carried to safety and is currently resting up.Photos of the response were shared online by a member of the rescue team.
He posted the images with the caption: Not our usual type of Rescue, but today both our appliances and Whithorn were sent to help the Coast Guard in rescuing a stranded sheep from a steep rock face. “It all went well and Larry is now resting up, a great bit of inter agency work.”The photos show a distressed Larry perched on the cliff face as his rescuers worked to reach him.The animal can then be seen with his feet bound as the team descend back down the hill.
