News : “We have seen an increase in women contacting us unfortunately. “When women are looking to end a relationship with a partner who is abusive, they are often the ones forced to leave their homes to escape the abuse and to seek safety – this means that their children are also impacted.“There is a fundamental unfairness currently built into our systems in that women an children are often the ones who face the consequences of men’s abusive behaviour, which all too often can include experiencing homelessness and poverty.“The forthcoming Domestic Abuse Protection Bill will hopefully help change this and will provide more options to support families to stay within their own homes if it is safe to do so as we can never forget that for women.
