South Lanarkshire Council keep emergency plans in place

Emergency decision-making measures taken by South Lanarkshire Council are set to continue until the end of the month.The leaders of the council’s five political groups have agreed that the measures put in place in March will remain as part of the council’s response to the pandemic.Chief executive Cleland Sneddon will make decisions under delegated authority in consultation with the political group leaders while committees remain unable to meet with restrictions on movements and gatherings still in place.Provision under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and the council’s Scheme of Delegation allow for the chief executive to  take on more responsibility than  usual when committees are unable to meet.Mr Sneddon said: “Make no mistake
