Pep Guardiola does not need to win the Champions League with Man City to cement his legacy. That is the verdict of former City star Shaun Wright-Phillips, who believes the Catalan will prove to be very difficult to replace when he decides to leave the Blues.
Guardiola has amassed a haul of 10 major trophies since taking over as City boss in 2016 but the Champions League crown has so far eluded him.
City were beaten in last season's final by Chelsea, though remain one of the favourites to lift the trophy again this term. Some have suggested until City take that extra step in European competition that they can't be classed as a 'big club' and some have even questioned whether it would dent Guardiola's legacy.
