Sam Smith 'in major backstage row' at BRITs as technical issue led to 'swift exit'

Sam Smith was reportedly left fuming after their jaw-dropping BRIT Awards performance was almost axed.The 30-year-old took to the stage on Saturday (February 11) to perform their No1 hit Unholy, along with pop star Kim Petras.Wearing leather and PVC outfits, Sam and Kim wowed as they entertained the crowd with the routine set inside a car repair shop.READ MORE: Sam Smith sends pulses racing with near-naked snaps as they rock animal print bikiniBut it seems things almost didn’t go to plan after their performance was nearly cancelled causing major chaos backstage and a delay to the live show.“Sam’s performance might have appeared seamless but behind-the-scenes it was a nightmare.“[They] were understandably furious and it was pretty tense backstage,” a source told The Sun.The insider went on to claim fellow music star Stormzy’s performance was moved up in order to try and fix the error.“Sam was told there was a possibility their performance might be pulled altogether,” the source added.Then, to try and kill more time to sort out Sam’s set for their performance, BRIT bosses played a video montage of Adele’s performance from last year.It’s believed the technical issue was caused by the cars included in the incredible yet complex routine.Despite Sam’s performance being a success, a second insider claimed: “The stress beforehand took the shine off the night completely.”Sam, who was up for two awards on the night, was expected to attend an afterparty with Kim.However, Sam “didn't bother going to celebrate at any of the label parties” and, instead, Kim went solo to the event at 180 The StrandsSam missed out on adding to their three BRIT Awards at the star-studded ceremony last weekend.They lost out to Harry Styles on two.
