Ross Kemp says 'nothing prepares you for ambush' after terrifying war documentaries

Ross Kemp spoke about his critically acclaimed documentaries outside London's Royal Festival Hall as he arrived for the 2022 TV BAFTAS ceremony.He told Daily Star Online all about how he prepares for Afghanistan, revealing: “Obviously you get pre deployment training.

But nothing can prepare you for an ambush. Once you’re in, you get through it. You get more used to and more exposed to it. And the better you get used to.”"The first time I went to Afghanistan I was given a BAFTA the night before," Ross mused.

"You make documentaries because you enjoy doing it," he said. “There was a story we felt we haven’t investigated before and we felt there was good reason for it because the access was very difficult.“You know objectivity is what I’m in to, I’m not taking sides or trying to diss someone."“It was basically an honest look into what happened to those animals after Neverland closed.

That’s exactly what it is.”On his favourite projects, Ross said: “I suppose the thing I thought we had most freedom to go anywhere in the world and make good documentaries on interesting topics was extreme work.
