Romelu Lukaku could be edging close to an Inter Milan return after just a season at Stamford Bridge, according to reports. Lukaku, who has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, previously expressed his desire to return to his former club in a controversial interview with Sky Sports in Italy last December.
Now, Sky Sports claims Inter chiefs will meet with the striker's lawyer on Tuesday to discuss the potential move back to Serie A.Although Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta admitted the club are keen on re-signing him, he expressed they are in "no rush" to do so.
The 29-year-old rejoined Chelsea last summer for a club record fee of £97.5million.As a result, the move proved to be a disaster with the Belgian enduring a difficult time at West London, contributing to just eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances this term.
An eventual departure could see Chelsea offloading the striker on a much lower fee than what they paid Inter for him.Following the recent completion of £4.25bn club takeover from Todd Boehly-led consortium, Chelsea can now operate normally ahead of the summer transfer window, giving them a chance to finalise their verbal agreement with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
