Robin van Persie says he was forced out of Manchester United by Louis van Gaal, and admits that he was affected by the manner of his abrupt departure.
The Dutchman picked up the Premier League title in his first season at Old Trafford after joining from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, but things started to go awry for him after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and appointment of David Moyes.
He played in just over half of the Premier League games in Moyes' disastrous 2013/14 campaign, and suffered more injuries under his replacement Van Gaal, who had been his coach with the Dutch national team at the 2014 World Cup.
