A retired senior lecturer with a history of severe depression and suicidal thoughts died after slashing his own wrist with a razor blade in a private hospital where he was being treated, an inquest heard.
The family of Dr Malcolm Dixon, a renowned educationalist who penned more than 40 science text books, were said to be unaware staff at The Priory in Hale near Altrincham had reduced the frequency of welfare checks to four times every 24-hour period.
