More than 50,000 “green” jobs could be created in Red Wall seats in just two years, research claims tonight. A study reveals the number of posts which could be generated in seats the Conservatives won from Labour at the December 2019 election.

They include jobs in green infrastructure, energy, research and development, digital infrastructure and the care sector. Green New Deal UK's 26-page 'Green jobs for all' report says 9,632 could be forged in Redcar, North Yorks; 7,899 in Stockton South, Teesside; 6,292 in Workington, Cumbria; and 3,465 in Don Valley, South Yorks.

The non-profit body highlighted 16 constituencies which switched from red to blue at the last election where it believed 51,629 posts were possible.
