Reality star alerted to cancer after viewer spots lump during TV appearance

A former Big Brother star discovered she had cancer after a viewer spotted a lump during a TV appearance and racked up a huge bill calling the show's competition line to try to alert her.

Bree Amer appeared on Big Brother Australia in 2004 and later returned as a host of Big Brother Friday Night Live. During an appearance on the show in 2006, a doctor noticed a worrying lump on her neck and desperately attempted to contact the show to encourage her to get it checked out.

Bree says the doctor spent more than £200 calling through to Mike Goldman's Up Late Big Brother reaction show to voice his concerns.

The reality star, who was 24 at the time, said she had never noticed the lump and credits the doctor for alerting her to the thyroid
