New study to explore how Australians are using drugs during COVID-19

A new study launched by the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at UNSW Sydney, is calling for participants to confidentially share how they are using drugs during COVID-19.

The Australians’ Drug Use: Adapting to Pandemic Threats (ADAPT) Study is the largest online survey of its kind in Australia and will provide critical, timely information about how people who use drugs can be supported. “Illicit substance use is relatively common in Australia, with 43 per cent of Australians aged 14 and older (8.5 million) reporting lifetime use of illicit substances in 2016, and 16 per cent (3.1 million) reporting use in the past year,” Program Lead Dr Amy Peacock told Star Observer. “Long-term trends in use of these substances are
