Rail chaos for Scots passengers as trains stranded following fire alarm drama near Waverley

fire alarm sparked a mass evacuation. Emergency services were called to the Edinburgh Signalling Centre, near Waverley station, at around 9.45pm on Wednesday.

Services were temporarily suspended while the incident was dealt with, however transport chiefs were forced to store several trains in the wrong location overnight.

As a result, at least six services have been cancelled this morning affecting commuters in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Motherwell, Alloa and Stirling.ScotRail said: “With last night's fire alarm activation at Edinburgh signalling centre meaning we had to store some trains away from their planned position, we've had to cancel six services this morning, and amend one other.“This morning our 0628 Tweedbank to Glenrothes.
