The country came within a whisker of recording the hottest day of the year so far, falling just short of the record 25.6C (78F) seen at Prestwick in Ayrshire on June 2.
As the sun came out, the Met Office recorded a temperature of 25.3C (77F) at Leuchars in Fife, with Edinburgh only slightly behind that at 25.2C at the Royal Botanic Garden.
Almost two weeks ago, the country enjoyed the hottest temperatures of 2021 in a Bank Holiday heatwave which mostly favoured the west side of Scotland.
While Prestwick in Ayrshire was baking at 25.6C (78F) on June 2, the Aberdeenshire coast was shivering at just 9C due to haar sweeping in off the North Sea.
