To the amazement of many, the PlayStation Store in mainland China has been suspended. There doesn't appear to be any direct confirmation as to why PlayStation saw fit to take the store offline.
However, over the weekend the Chinese PlayStation Weibo account, explained that the store required a security upgrade. "The PlayStation Store - PSN - has been temporarily suspended in Mainland China from 7 am on May 10.
No time or date given for resumption of services," tweeted Daniel Ahmad, an industry analyst who typically covers the video games market in China & Asia. "The official reason given is to carry out security upgrades.
