A Poundland store had to be shut immediately when a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus. The Union Street, Glasgow budget store underwent a deep clean after the outbreak.

Four other Poundland employees have also been made to self-isolate after coming into contact with the affected security guard, the Daily Record reported.

The shop reopened on Thursday, September 3 following the cleanse. It is now operating as normal. A spokesman for the firm said: "Last Wednesday we were informed through track and trace that a security guard at our Union Street store in Glasgow received a positive Covid result.
