The Cribs have paid their respects to the legendary musician and producer Steve Albini, following news of his death.Yesterday (May 8), it was announced that Steve Albini, who was known for recording and producing classic albums such as Nirvana‘s ‘In Utero’ and Pixies‘ ‘Surfer Rosa’ among others, had died at the age of 61 due to a heart attack.Now, members of The Cribs have come forward to share their respects for the iconic producer, and recall the memories they have of working with him in the past.The Wakefield indie band first joined forces with Albini back in 2011, shortly after they confirmed that Johnny Marr had departed from the line-up and were beginning work on their fifth studio album ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull’. The LP marked the follow-up to ‘Ignore The Ignorant’, was was shared with the band as a three-piece in May 2012.

Killers song ‘Mr Brightside’ has officially broken a huge singles record in the UK.As announced today (May 9) by Official Charts, the now-legendary 2004 track has taken over from Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ to become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One.Released as part of their debut album ‘Hot Fuss’, which was shared 20 years ago this month, the song didn’t go on to top the charts, but did end up becoming an unmissable part of British culture.Initially it dropped in 2003 as the follow-up to the band’s Number Three charting single ‘Somebody Told Me’, and the synth-laden anthem peaked at a somewhat modest Number 10 slot on the charts. However, two decades on, has gone on to become the longest-running Top 100 hit in Official Chart history.According to new figures from the Official Charts Company, it has been shown that with UK sales and streams of 5.57million – including 1.066million sales and 530,340,000 streams – the song is now the UK’s most successful song of all time yet to reach Number One.It has also been shown to be the third biggest song of all time in the UK when sales and streams are combined.When it was first shared, it only spent a few weeks in the charts before dropping out, but fast forward to 2024 and the song has now spent 408 weeks (just under eight years) and counting in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 – holding the title of the most weeks on chart of any song in UK Official Chart history.On average, it is being streamed in the UK around 1.8million times per week, and there’s no sign of it slowing, either.

Succession star Jeremy Strong is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.Per a report via Variety, Strong is apparently in the running for the role of Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager. Landau first took notice of Springsteen in 1974 when he was a music critic, and was hired as The Boss’ manager in 1975.Between 1975 and 1992, Landau co-produced nine albums with Springsteen including classics like ‘Nebraska’, ‘Born In the U.S.A.’ and ‘Born To Run’.Should Strong be cast as Landau, he will star alongside The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White, who will portray Springsteen.

Billie Eilish has announced a new “immersive listening experience” taking place in London to celebrate her upcoming album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’.Set to take place in the UK capital next week, the fan experience is hosted with Spotify and comes ahead of the release of Eilish’s new album, which is set to drop next Friday (May 17).Taking place at the Lightroom in London’s Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, the audio-visual experience will last for an hour and is designed to let fans have an insight into “the vast and mysterious world she’s created with her new project”, as well as listen to the album in its entirety.It will be held on Thursday (May 16) and Friday (May 17), and will include just 10 shows.
