A plane carrying the banner "White Lives Matter Burnley" was flown over the Etihad Stadium during Manchester City's clash with the Clarets.
The aircraft could be heard on Sky Sports circling the ground moments after players on both teams took a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
It is unknown if the players saw the plane, which stuck around for the first 10 minutes of the match before flying away. City star Raheem Sterling is among the players who has vocal in his support for Black Lives Matter.
The England international was sat in the VIP seats with the other City substitutes at the Etihad when the plane flew overhead.
