The pink carpet was rolled out last night for the Irish premiere of Deadly Cuts with the glittering cast in attendance. The film, a black comedy set in working-class Dublin, celebrates an all-female line up and stars Victoria Smurfit, Angeline Ball and Pauline McLynn.
The story centres around a Dublin hair salon where the stylists become accidental vigilantes and neighbourhood heroes as they take on the gang members and gentrifiers threatening their community and it’s a laugh-a-minute watch.
There’s big hype around the film with talk of a TV series in the style of The Young Offenders in the works. Certainly writer and director Rachel Carey has a pilot drafted for consideration, she says there are so many more places for the characters to go
