Foo Fighters have claimed their sixth number one album today with ‘But Here We Are’.Midweek, Foo Fighters surpassed Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in the race for the number one spot on the Official Album Charts.Both released their latest full-length albums last Friday (June 2) and the competition was one of the closest chart battles in recent years. Dave Grohl and co ultimately triumphed over Gallagher – who took the number two spot – after racking up 44,500 chart units to earn their number one.‘But Here We Are’ was the band’s first album since the sudden death of Taylor Hawkins last March.Prior to this, the Foos topped the Official Albums Chart with ‘One By One’ (2002), ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007), ‘Wasting Light’ (2011), ‘Concrete And Gold’ (2017) and ‘Medicine At Midnight’ (2021).Foo Fighters’ latest 11th studio album received a five-star review from NME, who hailed it as being “a beautiful, noisy celebration of brotherhood and a stark, painful exploration of loss.”“It is messy, gut-wrenching, ambitious and gorgeous, as the remaining members of Foo Fighters push themselves to their limits and beyond,” it read.

Foo Fighters have shared a message hinting that they are unknown band the Churnups set to play the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury later this month. Foo Fighters headlined the opening night of the new Washington D.C. venue The Atlantis and performed rare live track ‘New Way Home’ last night (May 30).The Atlantis – a new 450-person capacity replica venue of the original 9:30 Club – opened yesterday with the Foos taking the stage.According to Consequence of Sound, the band’s set began with frontman Dave Grohl reuniting with Pete Stahl, his old bandmate in the D.C.

Foo Fighters have released ‘The Teacher’, the final single from their upcoming 11th album ‘But Here We Are’.The 10-minute-long track is the longest song the band have ever recorded, and sees Dave Grohl begin with an understated guitar intro, and ultimately build up to blaze of audio overload. It also references the passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins and Grohl’s mother, Virginia.Directed by multimedia artist Tony Oursler, the single’s accompanying video is a short film featuring emotive imagery and home videos from the band.The director came to Foo Fighters’ attention via his work with David Bowie – specifically his video for Bowie’s landmark January 2013 single ‘Where Are We Now?’.‘The Teacher’ follows the band’s previously released singles ‘Rescued’, ‘Under You’ and ‘Show Me How’.

Check out the full setlist and footage below.The gig took place in Gilford, New Hampshire yesterday (Wednesday May 24), and served as a warm-up gig ahead of the band’s list of upcoming headline shows and festival appearances, set for later this summer.It also marked the rock veteran’s first public gig with newly-announced drummer Josh Freese (Paramore, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails), who took on the role following the passing of Taylor Hawkins last year.Towards the start of the show, frontman Dave Grohl took a moment to introduce the new member to the audience, and showed his appreciation for him helping the band perform.

The Foo Fighters have revealed that they have a new drummer joining the band, a year after Taylor Hawkins’ death. Josh Freese, who has been performing with the band at tribute concerts in memory of Taylor, has previously played drums for The Offspring, Sting, Paramore, Lana Del Rey, Rob Zombie, Bruce Springsteen, A Perfect Circle, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, the Vandals and Weezer, among others. In recent months, speculation regarding who the Foo Fighters’ new drummer would be has been rife, with Josh and Rufus Taylor of The Darkness both rumoured to be taking on the role.

The Foo Fighters had a literal motley crew of cameos in their livestream, "Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts," before announcing a new addition to the band: drummer Josh Freese. In the wake of the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins last March, the band enlisted the help of other famous drummers, including Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey, to tease the ultimate arrival of Freese.  Each musician was welcomed into the studio by the band, only to deliver a funny remark like, "There's a white Mercedes blocking me," "I got the P.F. Chang's" and "I groomed your poodles for you." With multiple interruptions, an agitated voice off camera can be heard yelling, "Excuse me," before cutting to Freese behind the drums.
