The uplifting Moroccan movie will unspool on closing night of Critics Week. Kinology represents the film in international markets. The sprawling, colorful adventure film opens in Casablanca, where a trio of rebellious female outlaws – a mother, her daughter and a young girl – drive through the Atlas desert to reach the Atlantic coast with local police forces on their trail. Benkiran said her film “celebrates freedom and the power of imagination,” as well as conveying the need for women to free themselves from patriarchal traditions in contemporary Moroccan society.

Cat Power, aka Chan Marshall has today (April 21) shared a new video for her cover of The Pogues hit, ‘A Pair Of Brown Eyes’ – check out the video below.The video has been directed by Paterson director Jim Jarmusch and it’s the first time the pair have collaborated on a work together.Speaking about the project, Jarmusch said: “As someone who deeply loves Cat Power’s music, getting to collaborate with [Cat Power] on this video was like a dream come true,”“She’s so inspiring to me, of course as an artist, but she’s also just such an extraordinary person.”Watch the video here:The track is taken from Power’s latest album, ‘Covers’, which sees the musician interpreting other people’s songs.In a review of the album, NME said: “There’s nothing in the world like a Cat Power cover version. American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch has directed the new music video for Cat Power‘s version of The Pogues’ “A Pair of Brown Eyes” (see below) from her new album Covers, which is currently out on Domino Records. A director widely considered one of the film industry’s most original and unique minds, Jarmusch’s filmography includes acknowledged classics such as “Down By Law,” “Stranger Than Paradise,” “Night On Earth,” and the Forest Whitaker action pic “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.” It’s also worth mentioning Jarmusch’s musical reach is similarly pathbreaking, having worked with luminaries Tom Waits, Neil Young, RZA, GZA, Joe Strummer, Iggy Pop, and more.

Denis, who has a soft yet determined voice, has known Jarmusch since working as an assistant director on his 1986 film “Down by Law.”“I was counting and we’ve known each other for 37 years or something like that, and what that means is we’re old, but it also means to you, young people, that shit goes by fast.

EXCLUSIVE: Sturgill Simpson has joined the cast of New Regency’s True Love, which is being written and directed by Gareth Edwards. Simpson steps in for Danny McBride, who had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts. Simpson joins previously announced cast members John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Allison Janney and Benedict Wong. Kiri Hart will serve as a producer on the project along with Edwards. New Regency will produce and finance the film.
