Seven years after property developers closed down one of London’s beloved gay bars, former patrons are rallying around to raise funds to open UK’s first community-run LGBTQI venue. Joiners Arms on Hackney Road in East London, counted late fashion designer Alexander McQueen and actor Sir Ian McKellen among its regulars. Property developers shut down the bar in 2015, after they bought the plot to turn it into apartments and offices. The developers promised to fund a new LGBTQI venue at the same spot but plans stalled after pandemic hit work on a planned hotel. “I’m so proud to share the work we’ve done to turn this utopian idea into a real space – one that can survive as a viable business, will create opportunities for queer people to work, perform, create, socialise and just ‘be’ on their own terms,” Amy Roberts, Chair Friends of the Joiners Arms said in a statement. Actors Stephen Fry and  Mawaan Rizwan and comedian Joe Lycett are among those who have supported the campaign. The campaign offered shares in the new bar to supporters, with each share worth £ 25.

Lee Ryan was reportedly arrested after a flight.It’s claimed that the singer became disruptive on the flight from Glasgow to London when he wasn’t served alcohol.According to The Sun, staff radioed down and Ryan, 39, was arrested when the plane touched down at London City Airport on Sunday.He is thought to have spent more than 12 hours in custody and was released on Monday pending further investigations.A Met Police spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘At around 1640hrs on Sunday, 31 July, officers met a flight that had arrived at London City Airport from Glasgow.‘A 39-year-old man was arrested for a public order offence. He was taken into custody at an East London police station and was released under investigation the following day.’Ryan has not so far commented on the reported arrest.Ryan makes up boyband Blue with Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa, and the group are best known for hits including All Rise and One Love.They formed in 2000 and, while they went on hiatus in 2004, they reformed in 2011.Earlier this year, they announced their first album in seven years and a comeback tour.‘We’ve been in the studio WRITING a brand new album,’ Simon said in a video on social media.

Lee Ryan has been arrested after an incident on a plane. The Blue singer and BBC Strictly Come Dancing star reportedly went "berserk" when "cabin crew refused to serve him alcohol". The Celebrity Big Brother is said to have been abusive to cabin crew and refused to sit when they would not serve him a drink.
