Just days after Strictly Come Dancing won the BAFTA for Best Entertainment programme, the BBC have teased that there will be a special spin-off show as part of Strictly’s 20th anniversary celebrations.To mark the show’s birthday, and to celebrate the fact that it is the BBC’s most successful entertainment series, the special Strictly will look back on some of the best and most memorable moments from the series over the years. Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: “Throughout its 20-year history, the show has launched careers, sparked trends, and touched the hearts of millions with its dazzling performances, emotional journeys, and unforgettable moments and we will be showcasing it all in this very special programme.” While more details of the anniversary special are currently under wraps, Suzy Lamb, Managing Director, BBC Studios Entertainment, added: “From glittering Ballroom numbers to high-energy Latin routines, the show continues to push the boundaries of dance and entertainment and we want viewers to join us in raising a toast to 20 years of sparkle and shine in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.” The show is likely to feature the many stand out moments from two decades of dance that began in 2004, when news presenter Natasha Kaplinsky took the first glitterball home with dance partner Brendan Cole.

Having since opened her own dance school, Motsi has reflected on her own experiences in South Africa as a child where she received heavy "emotional abuse and manipulation" as well as physical abuse from her dance teachers.Motsi, who was born in Mankwe, South Africa, started dancing when she was six years old and was competing by the time she turned 11.The BBC star has now opened up about the physical and emotional abuse she received from some of her dance teachers.Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Motsi admitted: "Some of them [my dance teachers] were good and inspirational but some of the relationships were abusive."And, you know, when you speak about abuse, sometimes people tend to be like, 'Yeah, where did he hit you? How did he hit you? Show me pictures.'"But stuff like manipulation and emotional abuse, those are kind of things you can't see.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is launching tomorrow with 765 charities taking part and with backing from celebrity supporters including ballerina Dame Darcey Bussell.James Reed, the boss of the recruitment company of the same name, whose father Sir Alec founded the Big Give in 2007, said charities had suffered a slump in donations and a surge in demand this year due to Covid. Two-thirds of charities reported a drop in income averaging 43 per cent since the pandemic hit, with more than half seeing an increase in demand for their services.'We want to give the sector a boost because they need it,' said Mr Reed, who added that he hopes to raise £16million in a week, starting at noon on Tuesday.
