Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has explained why he opted to switch to a back three for their 3-1 Champions League quarter-final loss to Lyon.
Guardiola was forced to change things up early on in the second half, with Lyon 1-0 up, bringing on Riyad Mahrez for Fernandinho and moving back to a more traditional formation.The Spaniard was roundly criticised for his tactical approach to the game but he revealed he had been working on the set-up with the players since last week.Guardiola said: "I would say we worked three days about this, and we discussed about this and we reviewed about this."When you play the last 15 to 20 minutes in that system so in the way we played it was really good so it's not a problem.
