Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.The decision to permanently axe a lifeline Dumbarton bus service has been branded a “nightmare” by a pensioner.Dorothy Drummond told the Lennox Herald yesterday (Monday) that the removal of the 208 First route between Brucehill and Silverton was “ridiculous” and her friends would struggle to get around without it.The 77-year-old hit out last year when the service was temporarily suspended during major roadworks in Dumbarton East.Now transport bosses have cancelled the 208 permanently with local politicians reacting with fury.First Bus say coronavirus has had a “catastrophic effect” on passenger numbers and say the service is no longer “commercially viable”.
