Pensioner jailed for playing music too loud dies in prison serving 24 week sentence

An 83-year-old man jailed for playing Classic FM too loud in his home has died in hospital while serving a prison sentence. Ian Trainer was handed a 24 week sentence in February this year for breaching the conditions of a restraining order.

The OAP, from Aintree, had been ordered not to play music between 9am and 10pm that is "above normal talking level" or 65 decibels, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Despite having previously been jailed for the same offence, Trainer continued to play loud music. Today the Ministry of Justice confirmed that he had died while serving a sentence.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “HMP Liverpool prisoner Ian Trainer died in hospital on 23 November. "The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has been informed.” The
