A pensioner died after declining treatment for coronavirus when he found out the disease had killed his wife of 63 years. Bill Dartnall, 90, refused to wear his oxygen mask after being told 81-year-old Mary had succumbed to Covid-19.
The couple, who had been together since the 1950s, died on the same day in hospital. Mum-of-two Mrs Dartnall, who was a beekeeper, first fell unresponsive at home and was tested positive for coronavirus after being dashed to A&E.
Her husband suffered a stroke a few days later and was admitted to the same hospital, where he too was found to have the virus.
