Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has lifted the lid on how Sir Alex Ferguson helped him change position later on in his career.
Scholes played as an attack-minded midfielder for the majority of his time at Old Trafford, but dropped into a deeper role later on.
In an interview with BBC Sport he explained how he dealt with not playing in such an advanced role, and admitted he was a "liability" at times in the centre of the pitch. "I just accepted it, moving deeper," Scholes said. "It happened before I retired with England, I was a bit of a liability in midfield because the only thought in my head was to score goals. "Sometimes, especially in Europe, we were getting overrun and I was getting destroyed.
