Robert Halfon, the chairman of the Commons Education Select Committee, also highlighted online porn culture as one of the causes of these recent disturbing revelations.
What’s really baffling is how the Government has allowed it to happen. Of course it would be preferable if the porn industry and platforms like Google took the moral path and didn’t allow X-rated content to be available to kids.
It doesn’t seem too big an ask. If McDonald’s showed porn on screens while you waited for your burger or Waterstones had X-rated books in the window, they’d be shut down.
But not only does Google allow the equivalent to happen on their virtual shop floor, it profits from it, quite substantially.
