The Liverpool Echo reports the deceased had been formally identified and his family have been notified of the death.The publication has named the dead man as 51-year-old Mark Jones from Upton Grande, Widnes – and report he had been due to stand trial at Liverpool Crown Court this morning.Mr Jones had pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault against a young girl, which took place in the late 1980s, when he was aged 17 or 18.He had confessed to touching the girl and making her perform a sex act on him on “around six occasions”, according to the Echo.However, he had denied two counts of raping the child and eight further counts of indecent assault.The victim is believed to have relived her ordeal during cross-examination by defence.
