"Outstanding" Joe Gomez hailed by Jurgen Klopp as defender signs new Liverpool contract

Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool fans the best is yet to come for Joe Gomez after the central defender agreed a somewhat surprising new five-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old, who has 11 England caps to his name but none since 2020, formed a formidable partnership with Virgil Van Dijk back in 2017/18, but has since spent 444 days on the sidelines.

Having made his return to Premier League action with eight appearances spread across 2021/22, Klopp and Liverpool staff have seen enough to hand him a bumper new deal that runs until the summer of 2027.
