dailyrecord.co.ukTen per cent of Scottish chain shops remained closed six months after 2021's lockdown, research has shown. And a study carried out by PwC and the Local Data Company revealed that 99 stores across the country permanently shut their doors in the aftermath of lockdown.
The results analysed activity across 1,863 Scottish outlets and showed that the rate of reopening following the end of Scotland's last lockdown increased by 5 per cent, with 88.5 per cent of stores reopening when restrictions eased.
However, the analysis also revealed that since March 2020, 4.6 per cent of all chain stores in Scotland have been forced to close permanently.
