Olympic hero Greg Rutherford has slammed schools who don’t award winners at sports days saying they are failing children by not exposing them to important lessons in life.
Long jump gold medalist Greg, 34, thinks winning and losing is an important thing to learn even from a young age. He said: “Failure is one of the most important things you can learn in life.
It helps mould you as an individual and an adult. What you develop from it is how to respond and react. “You are crushed when it first happens, believe me I lost more times than I won, but it gives you an internal toughness to go forward and want to break the narrative slightly.
