‘Old guy’ beats ‘future of darts’ as Peter Wright wins European Tour title

Peter Wright secured his first European Tour title in five years by sweeping to victory at the German Darts Open.Just weeks after undergoing surgery to have his gallbladder removed, Snakebite defeated close friend Dimitri Van den Bergh 8-6 in a thrilling final.

Wright only returned to action the previous weekend, going out at the first hurdle of the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest, but he made amends in Jena.The world champion, who was the epitome of consistency throughout the weekend, defied a spirited display from Van den Bergh to close out an 8-6 success and lift his seventh European Tour title.
