Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.NORTH Lanarkshire Council will hold a special meeting of its planning committee next Monday, December 21, to determine proposals from supermarket retailer Lidl for a new store in Airdrie.The application has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.Lidl are proposing a store on the Burn Stewart Distillery on Carlisle Road which would create up to 40 jobs and “improve the choice available to shoppers in the area, particularly those who pass the site on a daily basis and those within 10 minutes walking and cycling distance”.The supermarket chain already has five stores in North Lanarkshire – in Coatbridge, Wishaw, Kilsyth, Motherwell and Carfin.
