lockdown restrictions are required to stop the rising number of Scots testing positive for coronavirus. Sturgeon yesterday warned the public it was "possible we will have to do more" after she announced a further 697 people had contracted the virus.

She will meet with members of her Cabinet this morning to discuss whether a so-called "circuit breaker lockdown" is needed to reduce transmission of the disease in the community, with the SNP leader expected to make a statement to parliament later.
