Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Pub giant Marston's to axe 2,150 jobs after new coronavirus restrictions

Covid-19 pandemic.The Wolverhampton-based pub company said the group will "inevitably, and regrettably" be making cuts due to the Government’s recent restrictions.It plans to cut 2,150 jobs across its 1,400 pubs across the country, despite 99 per cent of them reopening after the March lockdown.

Marston’s had been operating under Boris Johnson’s 10pm curfew, and reported better than market rate profits pre-lockdown.However, the move was a hit to late night venues across the country, which typically make their money between the hours of 11pm and 2am.Johnson dealt a further blow to the hospitality industry on Monday October 12 with his three-tier local lockdown plan.
