The NHS is developing an app which notifies users if they come too close to someone who has previously tested positive for deadly coronavirus.

Covid-19 has killed more than 1,789 people in the UK with the death toll rocketing last night by 393 in 24 hours. A further 3,009 Brits were confirmed to be infected overnight, taking the UK’s total number to 25,150.

The NHS is now gearing up to launch a contact tracing app which will detect people with Covid-19 using short range Bluetooth signals.

It will then alert those nearby and prompt them to be cautious in particular areas. NHS chiefs hope the app will attract more than 50% of the population, according to Sky News.
