Bolton, South Tyneside and Corby are likely to remain coronavirus hotspots for weeks, according to a new interactive map which tries to predict new local outbreaks in England and Wales.
Data suggests the Wirral in Merseyside, Leeds in West Yorkshire, Middlesbrough, Rossendale in Lancashire, Breckland, Norfolk, could become high-risk area in the next fortnight.
Bolton was this week ordered to remain in a local lockdown following another U-turn by Boris Johnson's government. The map, created by researchers at Imperial College London, shows the places where cases are rising and predicts whether they could become the next hotspots to encourage local authorities to take action before it is too late.
