Six burglaries in one night - all targeting elderly people - have been reported by residents of a neighbourhood, says one Bolton councillor.

The burglaries took place between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday morning, says Bromley Cross ward councillor Samantha Connor, and 'targeted' elderly victims, including a man in his 90s alone in his home.

Homes in Sharples Hall, Templecombe, Blackburn Road and Stanrose Close, in Egerton, were all hit in the early hours, according to Coun Connor.

The items stolen included jewellery taken from one woman's home. In one of the incidents, an elderly woman in her 80s living in Stanrose Close was pushed into her sideboard by a thug, says the councillor, leaving her arm 'black and blue' with bruises.
