A pensioner is fuming after he was banned from playing the National Lottery because he "spends too much". The 75-year-old from Hull has been identified by the National Lottery as "playing more than the average player" and now has a three month ban on his online account, reports the Hull Daily Mail.

The former civil servant, who does not wish to be named, said he limits himself to spending £400 per week online on both the Saturday draw and on digital scratch cards, and says he has done so since the lottery was launched.

However, under the lottery's Responsible Play rules, which exist to protect players from gambling too much, his online account has now been suspended.
