not to go there. On one hand, there’s this glossy, idealized version of what female sexuality is supposed to be. Then on the other hand, most everybody grows up with slut-shaming or [the idea that] female sexuality is just for babies and marriage.
It’s a confusing time. Honestly, I think I would tell her to spend more time and energy figuring herself out and figuring out who she is [instead of] what other people like or what people would like me to be or to do.
I would say: Don’t waste so much time pleasing. Make girlfriends. Really focus on your female friendships, because that’s the time when boys start to get in the way.
